In this version, the name was changed to "Li Showron," and Meiling Li , an anime-original character, was renamed "Meilin Rae" and given a much larger role. The romantic elements, including the near-kiss, were downplayed to reshape Sakura into a more active, action-oriented hero, drastically altering the tone and intent of the original episode. The fully uncut series was eventually released on DVD and Blu-ray in North America by NIS America in 2014, allowing fans to experience the episode in its original form.
