Rakta Charitra (translated as "History of Blood") is based on the life of , a prominent political figure from Andhra Pradesh. The film chronicles the journey of Pratap Ravi (played by Vivek Oberoi), an ordinary student forced into a life of violence after his father and brother are murdered by local feudal lords.
