Previous versions had you roll on a “paranoia table” every time you used dark elf stealth or magic. It was clunky and slowed down play. Now, Whispers act as both a resource and a threat. You gain Whispers for succeeding on shadowy actions, but the GM can cash them in to trigger complications – a rival house learning your location, a betrayal from an ally, or a literal whisper giving away your ambush. It’s elegant, tense, and fits the lore perfectly.
