Born Sonu Kumar Nigam on 30 July 1973 in Faridabad, Haryana, his tryst with music began at an astonishingly young age. At just four years old, he accompanied his father, Agam Kumar Nigam, on stage to perform a duet of "Kya Hua Tera Vaada"—a song from the 1977 film Hum Kisise Kum Naheen . This early exposure set the stage for a life dedicated to music. His early formal career involved singing for numerous albums of Mohammed Rafi's hits, a series titled Rafi Ki Yaadein , which helped him refine his craft and gain initial recognition.
