The album’s creation was not without its challenges. More importantly, the album's release was shadowed by a tragic car accident in 2006 that Brandy was involved in. Consequently, Human carries a heavy emotional weight, with themes of seeking forgiveness and healing. As the BBC pointed out, the album arrived after "several years of personal trauma" and feels "vulnerable and revealing". The title track itself is a plea for understanding, with Brandy declaring herself "fragile and broken, perfectly human".
