"Crash Landing on You" tells the story of Yoon Se-ri (played by Son Ye-jin), a successful South Korean businesswoman and heiress. During a paragliding accident, she is swept up by a sudden tornado and crash-lands in the North Korean side of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). There, she meets Captain Ri Jeong-hyeok (played by Hyun Bin), a dedicated and principled North Korean military officer. To protect her from being captured by the North Korean authorities, Jeong-hyeok decides to hide her in his home. The series then follows their struggles, the romance that blossoms between them, the colorful community in the North Korean border village, and their attempts to get Se-ri back to the South.
