Draw your desired pipe shape on a piece of paper. Cut it out and trace the profile onto the sides of your briar block. Ensure your lines leave plenty of clearance around where the internal chambers will sit. Step 2: Drilling the Block (If using a raw block)

The guide emphasizes hand tools. Clamp the stem into the block (to keep the alignment true). Use a half-round rasp to bring the stummel down to your lines. Work from the shank towards the bowl to keep the transition smooth.
